Thanks Alan,
It is surmised that after Sherman moved on Atlanta (probably around June, '63), Tyler moved from hospital/marietta down the line of the A&WP railroad the the complex of hospitals in LaGrange GA (18 miles from West Point). There is evidence that while there he stayed in the home of a Capt Frank Frost. This would have been Jul/Aug. It is further surmised that as Tyler was a "friend" of Bragg's, Bragg brought Hood's attention to the fact that Tyler was there. West Point was a major Chattahoochee River crossing and junction of the rail line between Atlanta and Montgomery where at that juncture, the gauges of the railroads were of different sizes. All rail traffic bringing supply from interior of Alabama, Fla panhandle and some of Mississippi to AOT in Atlanta had to come thru West Point (on the West Point - Montgomery line), be off-load in West Point and transferred to trains of the other line (the Atlanta & West Point). Although unfitted for duty in the regular army, Tyler was a good choice to command the post and the fort there in place to guard the rail and the river crossings. He had served under Bragg commanding the 15th & 15th/37th TVI since after Shiloh and had additionally held staff positions as Braggs Quartermanter and Provost General.

There just is no hard documentation of where he was or what he was doing between the CSR card noting "hospital/marietta" and the correspondence you've noted from the OR (as well as some correspondence in the militia and domestic files of Gov Brown).

Been working to try to fill that gap for quite a while now. Too much digging and not enough bones. Any / all assistance appreciated.
