Alan - No, I have not seen any such reports. Wouldn't even know where to begin to look. That could be invaluable in my search. From time to time I uncover names of people assiged to post there or disconnected references to it and have been able to assemble some of the cast of characters and the timeline but I have no clear snapshots as such information could provide. Most references to the post are state militia documentation and that's been really hard to pull together... almost always happens by accident just coming across something. Kate Cummings wrote of a visit to West Point and the fort but mentioned no names that tie in.

If it was a militia post, part of Gov. Brown's program to protect the state's bridges and not a "regular" army post, would such reports as you mention still be a possibility? There must be some connection to the regular army because Tyler was still corresponding with Bragg from West Point and taking orders from Hood... ?

I know all this information is/was out there. It's frustrating not to be able to get my hands on it. I'm flattered by your interest and very much appreciate your input. Thanks. - Joe
