During 1864-65 Confederate inspectors visited most military posts like this and made reports. Have you seen anything on West Point, Ga.? It should name all the officers assigned to the post, give a detailed description of their duties as well as the inspection's private opinion to the War Department of their abilities and activities. If you're familiar with them, these are like Dunn and Bradstreet assessments.

Each one of the services is covered, and since West Point was a station at a critical link in the rail lines, I'd expect that Richmond wanted to know exactly who was in charge and what was happening there.
