Re: Byhalia or Bailey's Station, TN

The heck you say. I've dug up that fairway several times myself--but usually with a poorly swung wedge. Maybe all that lead and iron in the ground was interfering with my bio rhythms.

A little west of the golf course, across Poplar and south of Poplar Pike, is a reconstructed earthen fort built by "those people" to protect the RR.

In the general vicinity, I also seem to recall that some of Forrest's men ambushed a train near Collierville that just happened to have Sherman as a worried passenger.

Your Dad did a great job with that golf course. I always thought Ridgeway was one of the best maintained courses in the entire area. Of course, my golf is played in North Mississippi these days.

And what became of all those relics you found sprinkled around the course?
