We are sketchy about this as of now... just have a History of Tennessee, Goodspeed's Biography of Lauderdale Co. TN account where in a section on the notable citizen, Jarvis Pike Taylor born in Gibson Co., , it says, "His father was William Taylor who enlisted in the Confederate Army, in the Sixth Tennessee Infantry, but was soon assigned to The quartermaster's department, where he served 13 months." It also says, "He went all throught he war, being in the battles of Chickamauga, Missionary Ridge, and all of the Georgia campaign, and was with Hood's command during the battles of Franklin and Nasville."
William's middle name was Craig. He was born at Frog Jump in Gibson County (1838?)Would the info above sound like he was in the 2nd or the 32nd from what you know? I am not sure which military record to request for him. Could he have been in the 6th Tenn only during those first 13 months?
You are very knowledgeable and I apprecaite this help immensely.
