Re: Confederate enlistments at Missionary Ridge

I really appreciate getting your viewpoint on this.

I am 80% sure the man I am looking at on the record is my "brick wall" ancestor I have looked for so long.

Although I spend several hours a day reading books on the War Between the States, I am still not knowledgeable enough about military matters to have an idea of the ways a man could have died in winter quarters at Dalton, Ga. or vicinity.

I read today that the unit he was in, the 154th Tenn., was sent to Alabama during Feb 1864 and then called back to Dalton. Possibly he died en route to there or on the return trip. In any case, he was dead by Feb. 29, 1864.

Thank you to everyone that replied to my questions.

Glenda
