Most if not all of the available records will be in his service files. We can be certain that any living Confederate remaining at Fort Donelson would've be shipped to a POW camp, wounded or not. We have no way to determine the exact means of escape, which could only have been by transport before the surrender or by horseback or by foot. Since the wound probably impaired his ability to walk, I would expect that he doubled up and rode out with Forrest's men. We can't know for sure.
