WOW, thank you very much Richard and Eric for the responses!

I will certainly check out the book you mentioned Richard, and the mentioned gathering sounds very interesting. The story of these Uncles hs always intrigued me because of the extreme tragedy, that these soldiers endured so much, only to lose it all in the Sultana explosion on the way home...

Alas, it is the story of too many.....I cannot thank you all enough for the wealth of information you were kind enough to share with me, I will look into it all further.

Beulah, the Uncles I spoke of were Henry Harrison DeArmond, and Thomas Jefferson DeArmond from my mother's lineage, but as for the McGill family in Sevier County:
* my ancestor McGill s were in Greene County TN in 1850, 60, and in 1870 in both Greene and Blount Counties. In 1880, they were in Blount, but sometime in the 1880s or 90s wound up in Sevier County. I believe that they are related to the Sevier County McGill s, but haven't established the relationship prior to the Civil War. I believe I have my GGranp in the Union 3rd TN INF, and my GG Gramp in the Confederate 64th NC INF. If I can be of any help, please feel free to write to mcgillfam@aol.com

Best Regards to all, and may GOD bless!

ROY
