William C. Trundle, was 19 years old when he enlisted in Captain J. W. Chamber's Company, Bradford's Regiment Tennessee Volunteers**, Bradford's Regiment was organized March 28, 1862, spending it's first few months guarding railroad bridges on the East Tennessee & Virginia RR, then it received orders to the Cumberland Gap arriving there sometime in the July/August 1862 time period, Will died near Ruthledge July 3, 1862, most likely while the regiment was in transit North. [Note - I do not find any reference to an action in an or around Ruthledge during this period unless it could have been a guerilla action which I have no indication of. Inasmuch as the Regiment's history records that he died, rather than killed, I would believe he died of disease, or perhaps by accident]

**This company subsequently became Company A, 31st Tennessee Infantry which designation was changed to 39th Tennessee Infantry June 30, 1863
