War Office ca 1900+ notes re Clagett:
April 7, 1862. Island No. 10 Lt. Col. Cook, 12th Ark. Inf., mentions Mr. Clagett, of the Signal Corps . . . Capt. Clagett refers to men detailed at Cornith, Miss., for signal service. Indicates that he had served in that vicinity.
May 29, 1862 appointed from Va., Sig. Officer with rank of Capt of Inf.; to rank same date, to report to Gen. Beauregard.
September 1862 assigned to duty at Mobile. Capt. Clagett says "When [I was] assigned to duty here, nearly twenty months ago." (A. & I. G. O.-660-C, March 14,1864.)
