For those of you who have been posting about the episode in Cades Cove. I came across a photo of a soldier named Walter Gregory in a book called "Tennessee's Union Cavalryman" by Arcadia Publishing and sold in the McClung Collection Gift shop, at Knoxville. Here is the caption of the photo: "Walter Gregory hailed from Cades Cove and enlisted in the 6th Tennessee Infantry. Although not in a cavalry regiment, Gregory's story demonstrates the experience of many loyalist. While serving with his regiment, Gregory's father was murdered by Confederate guerrillas on the home front. Walter died while in the service."
