There are no muster rolls nor rosters of Likens' 35th Texas Cavalry. The National Archives file cards are just scarce notices from hospital lists, deserter lists, etc which have been compiled. Otherwise, nothing. Even the Official Records are slight as the Likens' Regt was in a running fight during the Red River Campaign.

My ancestor's daughter joined the UDC on sworn statements of two veterans and that is the only proof of his service I have found. I suspect the CSA vets in Cherokee County made the list and remembered your ancestor. You might try to see if any of the names on the list with him got pensions, as they may have had him as a witness because there were no documents, or mentioned him in their statements. If you can not get a copy of the book where I found his name, I will make a photocopy for you so you can check the other names with his.

Good Hunting!
