There were three Bowens in Co. D, 6th TX Cav.; William F., Thomas H. and John Y.

There is a bowen family in which T. H. Bowen (age 40 and born in SC) is the head. I didn't list him before because I thought him to old. There is a John Y. Bowen (18) in the household and a William ? (18) both of whom were born in South Carolina as well. See Series: M653 Roll: 1295 Page: 164 Sherman PO, Grayson county.

6th Cavalry Regiment was organized with 1,150 men at Dallas, Texas, in September 1861. Many of the men were from Dallas, McKinney, Waco, Austin, and Lancaster, and Bell county. Grason county is north of Dallas county so it is not inconceivable that these are the Bowens you are seeking.

T. H. Bowen wife’s name is ?aney E. age 39 born in SC
