the H. stands for Hallum his wifes maiden name . my mother is a direct decendent from this line. He is buried in grayson county texas I have a picture of his headstone and all the records of his service as well as 2 of his sons that served at th same time.
I have not been doing any genealogy for some time and ran across this site today. Sorry if you already have this information. the Bowen family is buried in Cannon cemetery Cannon texas just outside of Van alstyne.His wifes neame was Nancy. All the BOwens in this family named the sons with the wifes maiden name,.My grandfather was JOhn Douglas bowen because his mothe was Sara Ellen Douglas before she married and became a Bowen .
