Re: Texas 18 th Calvary & Borders Regiment

Jack, Just this past week I received a copy of my gggrandmothers application for confederate pension and learned that my gggrandfather, Able Lee, had been in the 18th regiment Texas cavalry, Captain Childress Company and then discharged after only three months. Abel Lee was approximately forty years old at that time. I have read that after the 18th regiment formed strict age limitations were passed and many of the men were discharged. Able then joined Borders Regiment, Texas cavalry and served two years under Captain E.V.Butler. Abel died in 1871 unknown were, how or where he is buried. Other than what you have given me, I know nothing of the Borders Regiment. Abel married his wife, Marta Butler, in 1852 in Rockwall County and their son, Morgan Lee, was married by a Rev. Butler, in Young County, Texas, in 1885. Unknown if Captain Butler is related to Martha Butler or if he is also Rev. Butler. Martha is buried in Fort Belknap cemetary. I have a long way to go on this. I appreciate what info you have given. I will also try to track down Camp Morgan, Camp Twitty and Camp Lookout. Thanks, Greg Lee glee446@aol.com
