Thanks for your quick response. I wonder if the entire Regt (Borders, or "Bourland's") was recruited out of the north - northeast Texas area?

Also, the sole source on my g-gfather's service (the muster roll that ends in October '64) kinda leaves me hanging. Did the unit serve through the surrender of Texas troops in May-June of 1865 and at some point formally muster out, or did they simply drift away, home, after Appomatox?
