In Response To: McCord's Frontier Cavalry ()

Thanks to Mrs. Patricia Rochette's book, I find C.W. Cooper, age 37, who was a Farrier in Captain James J. Cureton's Company, Col. J. Norris' Regimenr of Rangers. The regiment was approved Dec. 21, 1861 and organized in Palo Pinto County on February 1, 1862 with soldiers from Young, Jack, Palo Pinto and Parker Counties.

Col. James J. Norris' regiment was consolidated with Col. James E. McCord's Frontier Regiment Texas State Troops and was stationed at Camp Colorado in what is now Coleman County Texas from Jul. 1863 to Mar. 1864. C.W. Cooper, a Farrier, was in Co.C.

C.W. Cooper, age 40, was promoted to 2nd Lt. and placed in Capt. Thompsan-Robert's Company, 21st Brigade, Jack County, Major William Qualey's 1st Frontier District. Maj. Qualey approved the muster roll on Jan. 29, 1864. Captain T.F. Roberts was placed in command of this company after Capt.Thompson and 13 of his men deserted. The regiment was mustered into service on April 1, 1864.
