I'm hoping someone can give me a lead on my gggrandfather, William Reed. His wife and son are in the 1860 census living in Pilot Point, Denton County, Texas. We have land records and firsthand information that about him, but nothing that tells how he died or why he is not in the 1860 census with his family. Family story says he was bushwhacked on the way home from the Civil War. That's not verified. Who knows how I can find records about him? William Reed is a very common name...
