Barbara,I just checked the Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System and there were 4 Williams Reeds listed in different units of Texas Infantry,6 in different Texas Calavry units and 1 in Artillery unit. But if you should have reason to believe that he may have died before 1860,like Jack said in his post it may have been due to some border clash with an Indian raid or also northern Texas counties had their own little Civil War going on before the rest of the states got the "big" one going and in that case there MAY NOT be any record of how or where he died unless he was involved in a bigger unit like Patricia speaks of and if that is the case Patricia's book may be a good starting point for you.
