Re: 4 th Texas Cavalry & Monnet's Ferry

Jim ,

Okay, the book by Noel that I was talking about is " A Campaign From Sante Fe to the Mississippi: Being a History of the Old Sibley Brigade" : Houston , Texas : Stagecoach Press , 1961. I think this edition was edited by the late Martin H.Hall.

Like I said earlier , he ( Noel) also wrote an autobiography that was published in Chicago in 1904; however, many scholars of this regiment and its campaigns do not feel that the autobiography , which was written much later in Noel's life , is not as factual and as objective as the " A Campaign From Sante Fe to the Mississippi : ..." book . Both are hard to find. However, they do pop up from time to time. Like I said earlier, you might want to try a public library or a college/university library first before tracking these books down on the rare book circuit.
Also, there are several good books out on the Red River Campaign that we have not talked about . Any of a couple of excellent Civil War bookstores should have a selection of several books on the subject that are still in print , saving lots of $$!! Try C.Clayton Thompson Bookstore on line , Olde Soldier Books on line and Broadfoot to name a few. Good Hunting , Craig
