The Galveston battlefield monument is at the corner of 20th and Postoffice (Ave. E). I was lucky enough to be able to write the text for it. It is next to the old Customhouse/PostOffice built in 1861. Incidentally, the ironwork on that building was made under the direction of Robert Anderson of Fort Sumpter fame. Also, Braxton Bragg died crossing the street at that point in the 1870's. The Rosenberg Library has a great map that shows the modern coastline of Galveston superimposed over the old wartime map showing the various forts. The island did have a different shape then due to modern dredging. There are quite a few monuments at Sabine Pass, along with some good interpretive panels.
