Dear Ed,

I'm so happy you've visited and contributed to the Texas in the CW Message Board. It's an honor to have a CW scholar, such as you, participating in the discussions here.

I guess I'll have to visit the Rosenberg Library. Like so many things, not written down, I recall seeing a superimposed map, like you've described, many years ago. At that time, I was living in Tennessee and did not have an opportunity to visit Galveston, frequently. Now, it would be nice to have a general idea of the location of the fortifications on Galveston island relative to the modern buildings, roads, etc., just to get a "feel" for the place as I'm driving or walking around the city.

I'm very familiar with your book "Battle on the Bay; The Civil War Struggle for Galveston". It is an excellent account of the war years in Galveston. You must have done a great deal of research to produce it.

Thanks again for your participation. I hope we'll see you often.

Jim Martin
