Re: Texas Burials in Georgia (Cont)

Lynn: I did not come across his grave, but my inventory of at least two of the largest Confederate cemeteries is only a portion of the whole. The Confederate Cemetery at Oakland in Atlanta, and the Confederate Cemetery at Marietta are both huge, and I only scratched the surface. I used the cemetery books for the cemeteries at Dalton and the country cemeteries in neighboring Catoosa County. I personally inventoried the Confederate cemetery at Myrtle Hill in Rome, at Resaca (apparently used for the men who were kileld there or immediately nearby), and at Cassville.
The big cemetery at Kingston (where the Rome railroad branched off from the main line), is large, but only has a few markers. Also, wounded were sent to hospitals all over Georgia. You might try a request for someone in the
Atlanta area to check on the cemeteries at Atlanta and Marietta. I live 150 miles from there. Good luck.
