Hello. Thanks for the update. It was actually quite informative. I do know the difference between Bentonville
and Benton since I travel through Benton frequently and have for over 40 years.
To be honest, I did search for when that town was founded on the internet and never found anything.
Someone once told me that at that time, it was not much of a town and I feel sure, nothing like it is today.
Sam Walton changed everything on that northwest corner of the state.
I was trying to explain that things have changed a lot and I do stand corrected on the founding date of the town.
As far as explaining the Civil War sites, I have some inside understanding as I do reside in Arkansas.
I live within a mile of what had to be one of the biggest Union sites in the state of Arkansas.
My point was that W. F. Guthrie was probably one of mine some way, some how, as he had the right time of birth, etc.
He was not a child of Samuel Guthrie, my gggg grandfather, who was the county judge of White County very early on.
My Price/Guthrie/Turner crew floated in to Arkansas in 1836. I stated it that way because those three families
were so intermarried from back in South Carolina. This W.F. Guthrie was born in 1840 in Arkansas.
I am at least 8 generations into Arkansas because they arrived early. I am also retired and I retired in Arkansas.
