Re: 1st Regt. Texas State Cavalry

You may have thought that both men served in a Confederate unit. Sam Gray appears in Co. "B", 1st Texas State Cavalry, a six-month command that served during 1863-64. A note on the roll reads Sheriff. This may explain why he's not in Confederate service. I don't see anyone named Cosby or Cozby in this unit.
