As part of an article that I'm writing I'll be looking at Fulcrod's Cadet Corps, later folded into Scott Anderson's regiment. The members of the cadet corps were just underage for conscription, but did not necessarily come from any military school background such as Bastrop Military Academy, Texas Military Academy, or the more famous VMI or KMI cadets, among others. Does anyone know of any article or research that looks at the recruitment, organization, training, and effectiveness of any underage military units, particularly in the Confederacy but I would take anything North or South.
