At the reenactment of the battle of Sabine Pass this weekend, the trial and execution of Lt. Elijah P. Allen was held. The Lt. was commanding a small force at High Island with very little support. He left and encouraged others to leave. One other soldier at the trial had been found and sent to Galveston to work on trenches and other hard labor with a ball and chain on his leg. The Lt. was executed.
