The Texas in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Chandler, Randall's 28th TX, Walker Division

I wish that I could write that I have many additional facts to share with you about your ancestor, Jacob Wingerter, but unfortunately I do not. The only piece of additional information that I have is that he was listed as having no taxable property in the Texas tax rolls. I had no idea that he immigrated to Brazil after the war--that is quite fascinating! I would be interested in learning more about his reasons for immigrating if you have that type of information. Thanks for posting your question, and I'm glad that you were able to find my book about the 28th Texas Cavalry.
