Benjamin Beckerstaff, Private, Company I Young's Texas Regiment*, enlisted October 2, 1861 at Camp Reeves, Texas by Maj. Geo. W. Chilton for 12 months, wounded at the Battle of Murfreesboro, hospitalized, recorded December 31, 1863 as on Extra Duty as Forage Sergeant, captured at Severville, Tenn., January 27, 1864, sent to Rock Island, Illinois prison camp February 15, transferred for exchange March 2, 1865, no further records

* The 11th (also known as the 3rd and as Young's) Regiment Texas Cavalry was accepted into the service of the Confederate States October 2, 1861, for twelve months, and was re-organized May 8, 1862
