Re: Ben Bickerstaff 11th Texas Cavalry

I saw a hint that Benjamin was married and while I was searching for such on the Internet...

Did you have any luck finding out Bickerstaffs wife's name? He definately was married. The book about Bickerstaff, "The Devils's Triangle" says he recently purchased a farm near Peoria,Hill County and visited his wife in January,1869 just before his killing at Alvarado on April 5,1869. Also says while mortally wounded he asked the citizens to give his wife his money and remington revolver, not to abuse her as she was a good woman and told them to tell her to go back to her people in Titus County.

The book about Bickerstaff, tho decidedly "Politically Correct" does have excellent source notes. However, never any mention of his wifes name or when they were married.
