Re: civil war uniform
In Response To: civil war uniform ()

For those of us who have been in re-enactment for a number of years, the "jean-wool was or is excepted for those units in the east. I have been told by one person that the uniforms were not uniform this side of the Mississippi for the enlisted personal. That some had full uniforms and others no uniform at all.

Flags were made and given to the early companies in the town from which they came. Some got two. But as time passed it was understood that the flag making became something left to the government. Again, it depends on the unit for this to have happened.

I would like to ask if you have any plans for your marking of this grave site? You might be able to have a re-enactor, or SCV person or two to show up to help mark the life of this person. Some of us do care. Some of us believe when we say their name they live again in our hearts and mind. If it isn't to far for me, I would even make the effort to come. I have three men who served the South and their graves are...?????????????????????

We wish you well.

Your Obedient Servant,
Bert Hile
