"Uniforms" were their own supply of clothes and equipment. They used civilian work-range clothes that they wore every day. They supplied their own weapons, horse and tack; clothes and personal gear. They used captured Federal gear if any; which was issued "as needed".

My G Grand father was in the 7th Texas Malitia and mustered in with his own horse and "equipment".

I do not think that until after 2nd Battle of Galveston was there any issuing of "uinforms" as the 7th was assigned to the Trans Mississippi Department.
