Correction: Wm Loving Gilmer, Bourland's Regt

George Martin,
.
Wm. Loving Gilmer had been a hospital steward in Bourland's Regt. since Nov 1, 1863. ..Keep in mind that no formal records for Bourland's Regt. were kept until after they had been accepted March 1, 1864 into the Confederate States of America even though Bourland's Regt. was organized in February 1863.
.
Below is from my 200-page Name Index:

Wm. Loving Gilmer's parents were Sarah J. Loving and Dr. Frederick George Gilmer. ..Both his father and gfather, Dr. John Thornton GILMER, were physicians. I have no doubts that his family had known the Col. Bourland family for a couple of generations.
.
As an assistant editor of THE BOURLAND BULLETIN for many yrs, I know that 3 Lovings married 3 Bourlands. ..Also, Wm. Loving Gilmer's older sister married a Wells, and of course, Col. James Bourland's 1st wife and the mother of his 7 children was a Wells. .. Col. James Bourland's brother, Dr. Reece Bourland also lived in Lincoln Co MO (1860 Lincoln Co MO cen p592) about 13 miles from the Dr. F.G. Gilmer family. (New Hope, Hurricane twp to Hawk Pointe, Prairie twp was 13 miles.) ..THE BOURLAND PAPERS has letters that Dr. Reece Bourland** wrote to his 5 brothers in North Texas, so we know they were constantly in touch.
.
At least 15 men in Bourland's Regt, had known Col. Bourland back in the Hopkins Co KY area or the Weakley Co TN area before the War and came to North Texas from to serve in his regiment. ..About 4-5 percent of the men mentioned in my book were found in the 1860 census outside Texas.

** Dr. Reece Bourland's 1846 Bounty Hunt on Pennington Creek, I.T. .. Murder and counterfeiting suspect, Alonzo Pennington of Christian County, Kentucky, was hiding on what was later known as Pennington Creek, Choctaw-Chickasaw Nation, now Tishomingo, Johnston County, Oklahoma when he was captured by Reuben Bourland of Doaksville, I.T. and Dr. Reece Bourland of Ballard County, Kentucky. ..Pennington was shackled, escorted back to Kentucky where he stood trial, was found guilty, and was hanged in the first legal hanging in Christian County. ..This posted reward, trial, and hanging made national news for months, analogous to the 1932 Lindbergh kidnapping. ..Dr. Bourland collected a $1,000 bounty. .. (16-page article in my book) .... Dr. Bourland moved to Lincoln Co MO in 1858 to escape the rath of Alonzo Pennington's outlaw friends but they killed him in 1864 in his home.

Thus far, I have found about 100 men in Bourland's Regt. whose names were not recorded in the CSA archival records. ..Also, if a rank-and-file soldier did not have a special skill, it is probable that he was not mentioned in the CSA archival files. ..e.g. one "J. Miller, Co B, Oct 1864 sick" was all that appeared on his CSA records even though he served 23 months in Bourland's Regt.; and if he hadn't been sick, he would not have been mentioned. ..Some of the additional soldiers that I found are listed on:
