Hi R.D., I appreciate all of the information you are providing. I will take a look at the Indian Territory post. I also saw that you commented on my ancestry.com tree (thanks). John Myers McKinney was apparently a very successful farmer and also a preacher in the Church of Christ. He preached for 52 years and never received any pay for his ministry. If he left the 16th for the Partisan Rangers, that would account for the fact that there are only 2 muster roll cards for him in the 16th. The dates and location certainly add up as well. Wish there were some enlistment papers to compare! Allen
