In Response To: John M. McKinney ()

Hi R.D.,

The town of McKinney is in Collin County, Texas. Both of those names come from Collin McKinney who was instrumental in drafting and signing the Texas Declaration of Independence from Mexico. He was one of 5 people who signed that document. Collin McKinney and John Myers McKinney are descended from the same McKinney so were cousins of some degree. I'm still working on that. There is a great grandson of Collin who is still living and is 98+ years old. A friend of his just contacted me this week as he likes to connect with relatives. I hope he has further information. But, in the meantime, the town of McKinney and the County of Collin are very closely associated with John Myers McKinney. He (J.M.Mc.) was instrumental in starting the Lovejoy school (an old school)in or near McKinney. Allen
