Hi Kent......... I found his headstone photo at find-a-grave. Did he have a brother with the initials " G.W.? " there is a McShan in this same regiment with these initials. Also a J.McSHAN
in this regiment who also served in the 7th Texas Cavalry under " J.C." McSHAN. There were times when the folks copying the records made mistakes with spelling. They may have thought the " F " looked like a " T " to them. I have a Confederate ancestor/relative from Tennessee whose name was actually William Keen Hulse. He died a prisoner at Camp Morton,Indiana. He's listed in their records and on the monument there as " William R. Hulse. " instead of William K. Hulse. I'd bet a dollar to a doughnut that's the record for your Confederate ! Good luck ! Hope I could help !
