I have an original Kurz & Allison 1891 print depecting the Battle of Corinth. It shows the 2nd Texas Inf attacking the Federal position. Two flags are shown. 1. is the First National, but with a star in the circle of 13 stars. The other flag I found rather interesting in that it resembled a Texas state flag - A Blue canton, but with a 2 point swallowtail and the red bar on top? The Lone Star is surrounded by a laurel wreath on a white circle with SECOND curved over the star and TEXAS curved under. I have never seen the this flag shown anywhere related to any Texas regiment. I assume that both flags in the print are just "Artistic License"?
