Thank you for this information about the 17th being a consolidated unit. I didn't find him in the index either.
I may just have to wait until I go to the Mansfield re-enactment in a couple of weeks. I have never been before and I may learn something there about the units that were there. He(John W. Conner) is listed as being in Co. I Johnson's 14th Cav (Dismounted) also with another Conner
(Joseph Wesley Conner). I haven't determined his age yet or where he joined from. My gg grandfather is listed as John W (complete name John Wesley), so I am very interested in who the other Joseph Westley Conner is.The only one I have in the Family Tree that the age fits to be in the CW is from Georgia. Oh, well another puzzle to solve, but what would life be without them. Thanks again for all your help. Linda
