Thank you for the information on the Conner men in the 24th, but his name was John Wesley Conner and he died on 7th Apr 1864 at Mansfield. He would have to been killed in the two hour fight at Wilson Farm/Ten Mile Bayou the day before the Battle of Mansfield on the 8th. All the reference I can find is that Bank's army met up with 1500 Texas Cavalry-men for a confrontation at Wilson Farm. I will just have to keep looking. I had (that I know of) two
gg grandfather (John Wesley Conner/Cyrus Ivy), a gg guncle
(Robert Thomas Conner brother to John Wesley) there at the battle of Mansfield. Robert Thomas and Cyrus Ivy were both wounded and lived.
