I have some of the information that you asked for, but I am not sure this is my William. A lot of things add up but I don't know if William D. is my William.
Do you know where I might find any more information about him? The Soldiers and Sailors page only had him as a Private, as well as some other pages. What do you know of the commission?
William's like after he left Illinois is mostly a mystery.
