Co.K Mounted Volunteer Regt., Col J.E. McCord, Cmd

Does anyone please have any information about this unit?
All I have is my great grandfathers Confederate index. HIs name is John Clark. I would love to be able to add his name to my other grandfathers in the UDC.
Yes, I know it is difficult, if not impossible, to trace this man. Here is what I have on him:

Confederate index
John Clark , age 37,
enlisted at Camp San Saba, Texas
on 20 Dec 1862
for 3 years or duration of war in
Co.K Mounted Volunteer Regt., Col J.E. McCord, Cmdg.

I do know this is him because his was mother-in-law is mentioned in the book, "Call of San Saba", as being one of the soldiers and reveals that John Clark and his mother-in-law, Mrs.Fowler, were among the soldiers of Camp San Saba during the 1862-1865 period.

Any information would certainly be appreciated.
Thanks,
Cheyrl
