I know of one who did. His name was John Lalone, "swore the oath of office and got a job of his trade." I thought that this might be the name he used...I traced this name a while ago, but perhaps not far enough.

In my mornings research another avenue I found was that Joseph Dowsey might have traveled to Houston. In reading the account of the Massachusets 42nd Volunteers who were prisoners with those of the Harriet Lane, I found they were "encamped" in a cotton press near Buffalo Bayou before going on to New Orleans. The conditions here also coincide with family stories. Again, I can still not find the roster of prisoners from the Harriet Lane, just of the Massachussets 42nd. According to the account of the History of the 42nd the Confederates did have a roster, using it when transporting the prisoners out to New Orleans. Any knowledge of this cotton press? or of the prisoners sent to Houston?
