Thanks...GGrandpap, Jesse Knighten DuBose (charged with murder) and his brother (Dr. Amasa Hamilton DuBose)..charged with assault in Hunt County in 1861. Neither came to trial on this charge. Jesse served with Bourland's Regt in I.T. in 1864-65 and was killed "from ambush" in 1866. Family legend says that both were involved in the "troubles with Yankee sympathizers" in that area in the pre war days...Apparently, their charges were not related to the Gainsville "troubles." Do you know if there was a simular situation in the Greenville/Hunt County vicinity prior to Gainsville?
