1st TX Mounted Rifles vs. 1st TX Cavalry Regt

.
Gary D. Bray:
.
Thank you for explaning the transition of the the regiment that changed names: from H.E. McCulloch's 1st TX Cav. to Joseph Taylor's 8th TX Cav. to W.O. Yager's 1st TX Cav.
.
Last week I was rereading McGowen's HORSE SWEAT AND POWDER SMOKE, with my old red scribbles. (I read with a red pencil in hand.) ..A question that I pointed up was "When did McCulloch's '1st TX Cavalry' become the '1st Texas Mounted Rifles'."? ..Now, I find: "in Dec 1861 the CSA designated the '1st Texas Mounted Rifles' the '1st Texas Cavalry'."

I had the same nagging question about Pyron's 2d TX Cav, Co H since most references are Pyron's 2d Mtd. Rifles.

Kicker is ... Because of confusion with TST appellations, I added the note.
.
Editor’s note: These organizations, including the Texas Rangers, retained the names of their ‘old’ organizations, despite the Legislature’s repeated reorganization with new names.

.
Question: Did you find the info cited in your posting (see below) from Sifakis' COMPENDIUM OF THE CONDEDERATE ARMIES: TEXAS?

Quoting:
Patti,
This one is the same man in all three units he was 22 in June 1861. ..McCulloch's TX. Cav. became Taylor's 8th TX. Cav. and Taylor's became Yager's Cav. and Creed was passed along to all three units in the process. ..I read his records in the three units.

Good to here from you !
