The Texas in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Terry's Regiment Texas Cavalry

Hi, Gary. Yes, I have their service records also, but I want to see a Roster. If I have them narrowed down correctly, E.L. is Elisha, an uncle to Riggs, and I'm guessing that A. is Asa, maybe a cousin. I have family information on Elisha, very well documented. It is our Riggs that is impossible!
The family came to TX from MO in 1860 (and earlier), leaving 25 yr old Riggs behind. I have him captured and in Gratiot St Prison as a CIVILIAN in 1862 from MO. Why? He was sent to City Point,VA, for exchange, in June 1863. Then where is he? Then he is with family in Co. B in TX. I am searching to fill in the gaps and to try to discover where he got the leg wound that left him crippled.
Jim Martin helped me to begin this ramble with the service records. I'm just back from the Archives in Washington. I found nothing there on Riggs that I don't have with the help of this Message Board! (I did succeed on other relatives.) Which shows how important this source is!
I'm also working on Riggs's father Wesley, in Texas after the Alamo, then back to MO--and little information with no Message Board.
Thanks to everyone for your little or big leads. It helps! I know a lot more now about our Riggs than I did in April.
