Jonathan Golladay, Capt, Died Nov 30, 1862

I am seeking to confirm that my Great-great-great Grandfather was a Captain in the Confederacy.
If true and it can be confirmed he served in the Confederacy, I will be able to join a historial Society of the Confederacy.
Jonathan Golladay was born May 1803 in Fort Valley, Shenandoah County, VA.
His parents were Revolutionary War Patriot David Golladay and wife Rebecca Hockman. They first lived in Fort Valley and subsequently moved to Weyers Cave, Augusta Co, Va in the very early 1800s.
On 20 Mar 1826, Jonathan married 1st wife Mary Wherley, as recorded in the Marriage Bonds, Augusta Co, VA.
Mary subsequently passed away.
On 30 May 1842, Widower Jonathan married 2nd wife Martha K. Bell, as recorded in the Marriage Bonds, Augusta Co, VA.
On 30 November 1862, Jonathan died of Smallpox in Augusta Co, VA.
On April 12, 1859, The Staunton Spectator, page 02, Column 3 indicates a Vigilance Committee was established in New Port, and included Jonathan Golladay.
On November 13, 1860, The Staunton Spectator, page 02, headlined "The Union In Danger! Mass Meeting of the People of Augusta". In attendance was Jonathan Golladay.
On January 6, 1863, The Staunton Spectator, on page 02, in the Obituary Column 6, lists a Capt. Jonathan Golladay died on November 30, 1862.
Again, my reason for writing is to confirm my Great (3) greandfather served in the Confederacy. Because he was old during the Civil War, maybe he served in a local militia.
Maybe someone can point me in the direction to perform more detailed research.
Thank You.
