Re: Hugh McGuire, KIA 1865
In Response To: Hugh McGuire, KIA 1865 ()

Hugh McGuire had served in 2nd Virginia Infantry, and 1st Rockbridge Light Artillery, before transferring to the 11th Virginia Cavalry in February 1863. He seems to have been on detached service in 1862, some of that time as a clerk, or private secretary to General Jackson.

He was wounded in the arm in the Wilderness, commanding a squadron in his return to duty, and then wounded again at Amelia Springs, where he was fatally wounded in the thorax.

Hope that's of some help.

Regards - Anne
