G.T. Anderson's Brigade in Battle of Darbytown Rd.

According to Dr. Lewis Manarin's new book Henrico County: Field of Honor" G.T. Anderson's brigade disgraced themselves in the Oct. 7, 1864 battle of Darbytown Road, Va.

Anderson's and Bratton's brigades were making an assult on a strong position held by Kautz's cavalry division, Army of the James. Manarin says that Anderson's brigade took cover in a ravine. When they emerged, they were met by heavy fire from the 3rd NY Cavalry and about 200 of them threw down their guns and came forward shouting "Deserter, deserter."

This account is based on the official reports of the colonel commanding the 3rd NY Cav. and his brigade commander.

Does anyone know of any other sources that might confirm or disprove this story?
