Thanks, Johnny Reb, for the response. The Samuel Jenkins I was looking for served in the E/42nd Va, which was largely from Roanoke County. So I believe the 1850 Samuel Jenkins in Roanoke Co. is likely the man who served in the 42nd Va. I do not know his relationship to the Angle family. You pointed out the major discrepancy in the Angle family ages in the 1850 and 1860 censuses, and I have heard that the census takers were not always exact and complete in listing people -- so Samuel Jenkins could have been left off the enumeration. I have tried searching the 1860 Census for the counties surrounding Roanoke with no luck. One other explanation for Samuel Jenkins not being on the 1860 Census is that he no longer lived there and may have been listed on the census of another county in another state.
