I was wondering if anyone had any information of Major James M Strange of the 1st Battalion Virginia Reserves. The first record I have been able to locate is him mentioned as Captain of the Fluvanna Rangers which was formed April 1864 which later became Company D of the First Battalion Virginia Reserves. It also seems that he was in command of this unit during the Battle of Chaffin's Farm in the absence of Col R.T.W Duke. I have been unable to locate any other information such as any previous Confederate service prior to April 1864.
